Feasibility Assessments
-
We offer technical, environmental and social desktop and site assessments to enable early identification of project risks and mitigation measures to inform technology choices and site selection.
Technical assessments
-
The financial viability of a renewable energy facility depends strongly on the resources available at its location, amongst other factors. G7 can manage measurement campaigns and resource assessments including wind flow modelling in complex terrain, IEC compliant power curve measurements, yield assessments, layout optimisations and other technical aspects. We use the highest measurement standards paired with proprietary data analysis software and work in compliance with international practices which enable us to deliver prime quality measurements, corroborative studies and bankable data. The accuracy of our measurements and the predictability of the future yield are key to establishing the long-term success of a project.
-
Working in close cooperation with the national grid operator and conducting specialist studies, our engineering team determines the maximum possible capacity of a specific site before finalising the layout of the renewable energy facility. Grid connection assessments are undertaken in compliance with the national grid code and in consideration of grid dynamics.
Wind technical assessments
-
The turbine layout of a wind farm is key to secure the best possible yield of a site. With the collected wind data, topographical survey data, state-of-the-art wind simulation software and our thorough understanding of environmental and micro-siting (on-site recognition) constraints, our engineering team optimises the layout and positioning of the wind turbines in order to maximise electricity production of the wind farm. This takes into consideration various aspects such as technology, quality and guarantees and efficiency monitoring in order to secure the best return on investment.
Advisory services
-
Project structuring in terms of the various sources of potential funding, be it through equity, commercial debt, DFI assistance, grants or other means.
-
Financial Modelling.
-
Advise on or manage sophisticated procurement processes which will ensure that the project can achieve the best return on investment, while minimising risk for all financiers of the project.
Supporting services
-
G7 offers GIS services to manage, analyse, visualise and interpret all site and engineering data spatially, resulting in professional maps to support all the other services offered.
-
Project Management to ensure that high quality deliverables are delivered within the agreed budget and timeframe.
-
G7 offers mast installation and/or maintenance services, including monitoring functionality of sensors and data loggers, early fault detection, equiment calibration and refurbishment where needed, sensor installation and basic mast maintenance and inspection.
Site selection and acquisition
-
Site identification considering several factors such as renewable energy resources, topography, grid proximity and capacity, site access, land rights and various environmental and permitting constraints.
-
Securing land rights or advise on outright purchases of land and/ or long term leases. Services include the execution of servitudes or any other land rights required for access and/or the evacuation of power from the site to the grid.
-
Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments to apply for an Environmental Authorisation in terms of the prevailing environmental legislation. We have extensive experience in specialist management, public participation, project management and collating all information logically for decision-making.
-
Undertaking required permitting, contracting and licensing applications swiftly, while aiming to set the best contractual terms facilitating the long-term success of projects.
Due diligence
-
Due diligence services to reduce risks during the financing, acquisition or sale of projects. Due diligence reviews can include the review of yield assessments, site and layout suitability assessment, environmental reports and permits which were prepared by third parties.
Facilitation of stakeholder engagements
-
Facilitation of stakeholder engagements with government, municipalities, communities and consultants throughout project development.
Sustainable cities
-
G7 is looking ahead, focussing on creating and supporting opportunities for sustainable cities to become a reality. We believe that in order to accomplish this, the focus should be on decarbonising energy generation and finding innovative solutions to manage natural resources. Improvements in information and communication technology, smart metering and energy efficiency are all services required to work towards sustainability.
